Cameroon postpones parliamentary election to February 2020

President Paul Biya
Cameroon's President Paul Biya has announced the postponement of the country's council and parliamentary elections that have been outstanding since last year to February 2020.

This was contained in a letter which President Biya sent to the Parliament last week, stating that the postponement was necessary "in order to harmonize the organization of a twin municipal and legislative poll."

A bill to this effect is expected to be tabled in Parliament where despite political party affiliations, it is expected, as a matter of course, to be passed.
