The member representing Awgu/Oji River/Aninri Federal Constituency, Hon.
Toby Okechukwu has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
will repeat its feat in the State in 2019.
The PDP has remained in firm control of the Coal City State since the return to democracy in 1999.
Hon. Okechukwu, who spoke in Awgu Local Government Area of the State,
said the visible achievements of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi
Ugwuanyi and the quality representation of the lawmakers at the various
levels, would speak for the party during the election.
He spoke during an annual empowerment event organized by his wife, Mrs Uche Okechukwu.
At the event, which saw to the splashing of gift items to widows in
celebration of Christmas, Okechukwu said the essence of the season was
to share happiness with other people.
While making presentation of a wheelchair to a physically challenged
person in the area, Mr Gabriel Chukwujike, Okechukwu said he was
complementing the wife’s efforts in alleviating the plight of widows.
He noted that for the 2019 election, his party, the PDP “is certain
of victory because it has since endeared itself into the minds and heart
of the people.
“Our dear Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has done so well in the State
and this effort is being complemented by those of us at the National
Assembly.
“So, it is a win-win situation for us in 2019. Our people are totally
with us and that is why we will never stop to give back to the
society.”
Earlier, Mrs. Okechukwu thanked the women for their support to her
husband and urged them “to keep praying for him. We plead with you to
continue to support, even as I assure you that we shall do our best to
make the life of the people better.”
In a remark, a chieftain of the PDP in the area, Barr Eze O. Eze said
Hon. Okechukwu had been representing the people creditably in the Green
Chambers.
“His quality representation is evident across our constituency. The
free medical outreach held recently at Nnewe cottage hospital Aninri, is
one of such many ways he has touched the lives of the people,” he said.
