The President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), H.E. Chief Fortune Charumbira has on behalf of the Bureau, the entire membership of the Pan African Parliament congratulated H.E. President Cyril Ramaphosa on his re-election as President of the Republic of South Africa on 14th June, 2024.

In his congratulatory message, H.E. Chief Charumbira wrote:

“Your Excellency, the renewal of your mandate by a resounding affirmative vote of 283, attests to the confidence that the different political parties and, by extension, the people of the Republic of South Africa repose in your leadership and your ability to steer the first coalition government in independent South Africa to collectively fulfil the hopes, ideals and aspirations of its people.

“We also commend Your Excellency’s readiness to put the interests of South Africa first by successfully spearheading negotiations for a coalition government within the period specified by the supreme law of the Republic of South Africa, notwithstanding the varied positions, ideologies and interests that characteristically undergird such negotiations.

“As you begin your renewed mandate as the leader of the first national coalition government in South Africa’s democratic history, we reaffirm the Pan African Parliament’s unwavering commitment to continue working closely with the Republic of South Africa, in pursuit of the continental development and integration agenda.

Congratulations! Siyakuhalalisela!”.
