The
President of the Republic of Niger, H.E.
Mohamed
Bazoum, has commended the President of the Pan-African
Parliament (PAP), H.E. Hon. Chief
Fortune Charumbira for his leadership at the helm of the institution.
H.E. Chief Charumbira was in Niamey, Niger
where he paid a courtesy visit to President H.E. Mohamed
Bazoum.
The
two men discussed the state of affairs at the Pan-African Parliament with a
focus on how the political leadership elected in June 2022 has successfully
renewed and reinvigorated the Continental Parliament. The discussions also
centered on peace and security and regional
integration.
H.E. Chief Charumbira also outlined
the support required by the continental Parliament to enhance its effectiveness
in delivering on its mandate.
It would be recalled that the current President of Niger is a former Member of the Pan-African Parliament, who served alongside Hon. Chief Charumbira.
H.E. Chief Charumbira was accompanied
during the visit by the Third Vice President of PAP, Hon. Lucia Dos
Passos, as well as Members of the Niger delegation to the Pan-African
Parliament.
