The
delegation of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) currently in Algeria on official
visit has paid a courtesy visit to the Algeria Minister of Foreign Affairs and
National Community Abroad, H.E. Ramtane
Lamamra. PAP delegation was led by the President of the Parliament H.E. Chief Fortune Charumbira.
The
meeting discussed ways and means to enable the Pan-African Parliament to
fulfill its mandate and contribute to the implementation of African Union’s Agenda
2063.
H. E. Chief Charumbira briefed the Minister
on the current challenges facing the institution and areas requiring assistance
from Algeria ahead of the 42nd Ordinary Session of the Executive
Council and the 36th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African
Union. He also thanked the Minister and the entire government of Algeria for
the unwavering support to the Parliament.
In
this regard, Minister Lamamra who is
a member of the AU Executive Council reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that
the Pan-African Parliament receives the necessary resources from the African
Union in order to operate optimally. The two parties agreed on the crucial role
of the Parliament in realizing the Africa We want.
