Republic of Congo offers to host PAP Session

The Republic of Congo has expressed interest to host the proposed resumption of the suspended session of the Pan African Parliament (PAP) tentatively scheduled to hold from November 13 to 27, 2021 subject to African Union approval and availability of budget.

This was contained in a letter signed by Guillaumetta Kiakouama, Clerk of the National Parliament in Brazzaville, and addressed to the Clerk of PAP, Mr. Vipya Harawa dated September 3, 2021.

According to the letter, the offer is to host a physical session of the continental parliament and did not contain details as to the financial implications of the offer.

Meanwhile, Mr. Harawa has written to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), Republic of South Africa informing it of the proposed November physical session of the PAP and requested for a meeting “to prepare for the planned session”.
