The
Republic of Congo has expressed interest to host the proposed resumption of the
suspended session of the Pan African
Parliament (PAP) tentatively scheduled to hold from November 13 to 27, 2021
subject to African Union approval and
availability of budget.
This
was contained in a letter signed by Guillaumetta
Kiakouama, Clerk of the National Parliament in Brazzaville, and addressed to
the Clerk of PAP, Mr. Vipya Harawa
dated September 3, 2021.
According
to the letter, the offer is to host a physical session of the continental parliament
and did not contain details as to the financial implications of the offer.
Meanwhile,
Mr. Harawa has written to the
Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), Republic of
South Africa informing it of the proposed November physical session of the PAP and requested for a meeting “to prepare
for the planned session”.
