President Buhari |
An All Progressives Congress chieftain in Gombe State, Alhaji Samaila
Mohammed has said that the recent clashes between the army and the
Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shi’ites were a strong
indication that President Buhari administration was inviting anarchy
into the country ahead of 2019 elections.
This follows series of killings and loss of property resulting from
the recent face-off between Shi’ites and security operatives.
Mohammed told DAILY POST Thursday in Bauchi that the continued
detention of Shiites leader was an illegality and contradicts any given
law relating to human rights.
” It’s a fact that several courts in Nigeria have granted El- Zakzaky
unconditional bail but Buhari administration has always turned down the
orders deliberately to cause anarchy, using religious sentiment,” said
Mohammed.
He cautioned that using force in addressing such sensitive religious
matters was extremely wrong, especially as Nigeria approaches the
general elections.
The APC chieftain maintained that under Buhari, injustice was a major
impediment in uniting the society, yet the FG has failed to respect the
rule of law
” Our expectations are that security should utilise their
professionalism to address Nigeria’s security challenges instead of
compromising their obligations to politicians to the detriment of its
citizens” fumed Mohammed.
He, therefore, urged president Buhari to take the path of honour and
curb Shiites and security clashes for free and fair 2019 elections.
