Ambassador Chidike Ukauwa |
Ambassador Chidike Ukauwa, a governorship aspirant at the just concluded
primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, held in Abia
state, has called for immediate disciplinary action against the Imo
state Governor, Rochas Okorocha, over his continued vituperation on the
national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomohole.
Ukandu, who spoke with reporters on Tuesday evening, explained that
in as much as the constitution of Nigeria guaranteed freedom of speech,
Okorocha should be called to order.
He stated that the continued attacks on the APC national chairman by
Okorocha, was an attack on the nation’s democracy and further urged the
leadership of the party, to prosecute the governor over alleged
anti-party activities.
The APC chieftain, however, lauded the decision of the national
leadership of the party in affirming Senator Hope Uzodinma, as the duly
elected gubernatorial candidate of the APC in Imo, urging Okorocha to
work with the party’s flag bearer to enable the governing APC retain the
state come 2019.
His words, “All those calling for the removal of Adams Oshiomohole
are failed leaders. These are people who don’t want democracy to take
its stand.
“Adams Oshiomohole as the national chairman of the ruling party in
Nigeria is not there for himself. The man is doing a great job according
to the tenets of democracy.
“He has ensured that every APC members and aspirants to have a say in
the affairs of the party. He ensured the people were allowed to make
their choices.
“For Governor Rochas Okorocha, I will say he is the worst governor I
have never seen in my life. This is a governor who wants to selfishly
build a political dynasty in Imo.
“He has betrayed the people of Imo state who voted him in 2011 and
2015. I and others contributed immensely in making him governor of Imo
state.
“And he wants to turn Imo state as his personal property. This is
what we are suffering here in my own state, Abia, where the state is
being ran as family business.
“Today, the people of the state are crying bitterly. They are
yearning for change of government, because the PDP-led administration in
the state has failed completely to bring dividends of democracy to the
Abia masses.
“Why is Governor Okorocha fighting Oshiomohole? Because, the national
chairman refused do his biddings. For me, the national chairman has not
done anything wrong to warrant attacks from Okorocha.
“I want to advise the leadership of the party that if the Imo
Governor continues his attacks on the national chairman, he should be
prosecuted.
“Why Rochas is making efforts to install his son in-law as Imo
governor? Is because, he is afraid of going to jail. He wants his in-law
to cover his evil misdeeds in Imo state.
“If he did not desist from abusing Oshiomohole, him and his cohorts should be suspended from the party.
