One feared dead as argument over politician’s defection sparks cult clash in Delta

One person has been feared dead with some others seriously injured in a clash between the Eiye and Baggar confraternities in Owa-Oyibu community near Agbor in Delta State, DAILY POST can report.
The clash between both cult groups started following the defection of a politician (name withheld) in the area.

DAILY POST learnt that a serious argument had ensued among members of the rival cult groups as they discussed the matter while gambling.
In the process, a fierce fight broke out during which dangerous weapons were freely used leading to the death of one person as others sustained grave injuries.

The matter was however quickly brought under control by the men of the Nigeria Police Force, Owa-Oyibu Division in collaboration with the Anti-Cult Volunteers, AVC, in the area.

The Delta state Commissioner for Police, CP Muhammad Mustafa, confirmed the report.
CP Mustafa said,”The matter has been reported. The DPO called me and I made sure there was no retaliation. We are containing the situation. ”

Meanwhile, President of Anti-Cult Volunteers, Comrade Austyne Emu did not respond to our correspondent, who sought his views on the matter.

However, a member of AVC, who craved anonymity, said the warring cult groups should be ready to face the consequence of their actions.

The source said, “We will ensure that the wrath of Delta State laws including Criminal laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Everyone involved either directly or indirectly will get their fair share from the laws of the land as ignorance is never an excuse in a court of law.”
