Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa’s second goal against Iceland has been rated the eighth best goal at the Mundial, which was won by France. Russia witnessed some of the finest footballers on the planet and saw some of the best goals in World Cup history.
FIFA came up with the best 10 goals at the World Cup and the Nigerian made it, placing number eight on the count.
Surprisingly, the top 10 goals left out one of the most fantastic
goals of the tournament, which was Nacho’s sumptuous strike for Spain
against Portugal in their remarkable 3-3 draw.
Apart from Musa’s effort, there is also room for the two big names of
world football in this list, as Lionel Messi’s incredible touch and
finish against Nigeria was included, just as Cristiano Ronaldo’s
incredible last-minute free-kick against Spain made the cut.
Meanwhile, France’ Benjamin Pavard’s goal in the Les Blues’ 4-3 win
over Argentina emerged the best of the quadrennial tournament. The goal
was selected in an online poll where over three million FIFA.com users
casted their votes.
The 22-year-old released a powerful shot with the outside of his foot which sailed into the net to make the score line 2-2.
