Ezekwesili describes vote buying as ‘Democracy on sale’

Oby Ezekwesili
Former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili, has condemned the allegation of vote-buying leveled against party agents by voters in some polling units during Ekiti Governorship election.

Recall that the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the Ekiti State governorship election, Kayode Fayemi won in 12 out of 16 Local Government Areas in the poll held on Saturday.

Fayemi who polled 197,459 was accused of offering N5,000 to those who had the Permanent Voters’ Card to secure their votes while Olusola who scored 178,114 votes was alleged to have shared N3,000.

The mismanagement of Ekiti election by ‘Twin-Evil of Nigeria Politics’ would pay off in 2019 election, she tweeted.

In a series of tweets, she wrote: “Democracy For Sale. What would make a person PAY a people money in order to SERVE them?

“Democracy as practiced by Nigeria’s Political Class:Use the proceeds of the pillage of Public Treasury to purchase the consent of the people to pillage them some more.

“Increase the intensity of previous pillage to guarantee a place in the Senate & a successor who protects.

“Nigeria’s irredeemable Political Class and their minions will assume that this is how it will ALWAYS be.

“You will hear their “triumphant shouts of electoral victory” which was brazenly purchased with the public resources of the people.

“It shall end, nothing lasts forever. Not even the deeply entrenched in decadence Nigeria Political Class can hold a People down in such servitude forever.

“The inevitability of the end of a thing shall kick in, the unsustainability of failure shall soon end the Sale of Democracy.

“Perhaps, more Citizens now understand why we call them the Siamese-Twins of Nigeria Politics. Perhaps, more Nigerians now understand why we posit that there is Zero difference between Six and Half-Dozen.

“Perhaps, more Nigerians will now appreciate why 2019 must be different.

“All things about sordidness of the #EkitiVotes2018 shall ultimately work together for the good of Nigeria’s Democracy in 2019 because now many more of Citizens will awaken to the work needed to deliver Nigeria from the Twin-Evil of Nigeria Politics.”
