The Secretariat of
the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) is currently holding its second capacity
building workshop. The objective of the training is to develop frameworks or
models on oversight, representation, and diplomacy in line with the Protocol
and Parliament’s strategic vision, together with the realignment of resources
to fulfil its mandate with greater efficiency. The frameworks will later be
presented to members of Parliament for endorsement and implementation.
The workshop is
conducted by PAP Staff, experts and representatives from National Parliaments
including Rwanda, South Africa, Tunisia and Uganda. The PAP Secretariat is also
scheduled to receive a briefing from the Department of International Relations
and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa on the host country agreement.
The capacity building
activity is being implemented under the auspices of the African Governance
Architecture (AGA) project. The overall objective of the AGA project is to
contribute to good governance, respect for human rights, justice, and the rule
of law in Africa, in accordance with Aspiration 3 and 6 of Agenda 2063 of the
African Union.
