South Africa records more than 1 million COVID-19 cases


South Africa Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, has confirmed said the total number of people who have been infected with coronavirus now stands at 1,004,413 with 9,502 new infections announced on Sunday night.

Mkhize also disclosed that 214 deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of fatalities to 26,735.

According to the health minister, the new figures indicate that South Africa is experiencing a second wave of the pandemic.

He further revealed that the government would need to consider further restrictions in other to curb the spread of the virus, NAN reports.
