The Pan-African Parliament condemns the military mutiny underway in Mali

The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) has condemned in strong terms, the arrest of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and Prime Minister Boubou Cisse by mutinying soldiers, and demands their immediate release.

A statement issued by the Media Officer of the continental Parliament, Jeffrey ONGANGA said that the Parliament supports the statement issued by H.E Moussa Faki MAHAMAT, on behalf of the African Union, rejecting any attempt of an unconstitutional change of government in Mali, while calling on mutineers to cease all forms of violence and prioritize dialogue to resolve the current crisis.

The Parliament urges the African Union, ECOWAS and the international community to lead collaborative efforts in engaging with all stakeholders in the Malian political crisis in a bid to restore peace, security and stability in the country.

The Pan-African Parliament stands in solidarity with the people of Mali and calls for calm and restraint during this critical time.
