Djamel leads PAP delegation to PAM in Athens

The Third Vice President of the Pan African parliament (PAP), Hon. Bouras Djamel, is leading a delegation of the legislative arm of the African Union to the 14th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) in Athens, Greece.
The session which is hosted by the Hellenic Parliament, kicked off on Thursday and will conclude on 21 February 2020. The PAP delegation was welcomed by H.E. Hon. Costantine An. Tassoulas, President of the Hellenic Parliament and Sen. Dr. Alia Bouran (Jordan), PAM President.

“During the Plenary Session, the 240 delegates will review the reports and vote the resolutions on the critical issues of concern, for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf areas, inter alia, the evolving threat by ISIS terrorists, the peace process in the Middle East, the national reconciliation process in Libya, the situation in North-Eastern Syria, the economic integration in the region, the challenges related to climate change following COP25, mass migrations and the promotion of Human Rights.”

Djamel says that the PAP's participation in the PAM shows its growing recognition among international partners and stakeholders:" We are honored to be associated to this Plenary Session and will be conveying the contribution of the PAP in helping to solve some of the world's most pressing challenges."
Following a message by the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Parliamentarians gathered in Athens are expected to be briefed, among others, by the President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and by the Special Representative of the Director General of the World Health Organization.
