Prof. Yemi Osinbajo |
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday had a closed-door discussion that lasted over one hour with Adamawa State Governor Jibrilla Bindow at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Bindow emerged from the meeting and refused to speak to reporters on why he met with the Vice President.
The meeting is believed to be connected to outburst by the President’s wife, Aisha Buhari.
Aisha had called out the All Progressives Congress (APC) after his
brother, Dr. Mahmood Halilu Ahmed, lost the governorship ticket to
Bindow.
An angry Aisha, in a post on her social media page, condemned what she called impunity in the APC.
She said: “It is disheartening to note that some aspirants used their
hard earned money to purchase nomination forms, got screened, cleared
and campaigned vigorously yet found their names omitted on Election Day,
these forms were bought at exorbitant prices.
“Many others contested and yet had their result delayed. Fully knowing that AUTOMATIC tickets have been given to other people.
“All Progressives Congress being a party whose cardinal principle is
change and headed by a comrade/ activist whose main concern is for the
common man, yet, such impunity could take place under its watch.”
Before the primary, Ahmed wrote a petition to the APC national chairman demanding reconstitution of Adamawa Gubernatorial Election Committee.
