Senator Bukola Saraki |
The Nigerian Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki has taken a swipe
at the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, saying the
government failed to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
He said a government without political will to pay workers’ salaries
as at when due, and boost the micro-economy and ensure greatest happiness
to the greatest number of people must not be allowed to continue.
Saraki made the assertion at the party’s mega rally in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Wednesday.
The Senate President, who is the Chairman of National Campaign
Council for Osun election said that the September 22 gubernatorial
election would be a liberation for the people.
“Some people came here yesterday to campaign for performance and
continuity. I have never seen any state where government is owing
workers continuously without any consideration, they must be sent out”.
The National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus in his
remarks said there was a collapse of infrastructure and economy in the
state, urging the electorate to take their destinies into their hands.
Meanwhile, the former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in his
address called on the people of the state to come out massively to
exercise their franchise, and as well protect their votes.
“You must protect and guard your votes against rigging, do not allow
what happened in Ekiti to repeat itself in Osun State”, Atiku said.
