African Parliamentarians celebrate PAP President Charumbira on his birthday

Members of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) today celebrated a remarkable leader, esteemed colleague and President of the Pan-African Parliament, H.E. Hon. Chief Fortune Charumbira who marked his birthday today.

In several goodwill messages to Hon. Chief Charumbira, the parliamentarians recalled that his “tireless dedication and unwavering commitment to the ideals of unity, democracy, and development in Africa have been truly inspiring”. They noted that since assuming the presidency of the continental parliament, H.E. Chief Charumbira has demonstrated exemplary leadership, guiding the institution through challenging times with wisdom and grace. “Your vision for a united and prosperous Africa continues to galvanize us towards achieving the goals of the African Union and the aspirations of the African people”.

“Under your stewardship, the Pan-African Parliament has made significant strides in promoting legislative harmony across the continent, advocating for human rights, and fostering economic growth. Your efforts in strengthening the ties between African nations have not only enhanced the functionality of our Parliament but have also instilled a renewed sense of purpose and solidarity among us.”

Another parliamentarian wrote: “Your unwavering dedication to justice and equality is a beacon of hope for all Africans. You have been a relentless advocate for a vibrant continental parliament that ensures that the voices of Africans are heard and their rights are protected. Your leadership has brought forth numerous initiatives aimed at improving the lives of millions, and for this, we are profoundly grateful”.

In his message, a member of the Nigeria\s delegation to the Parliament who is Rapporteur of PAP’s Committee on Health, Labour and Social Affairs, Hon. Philip Agbese wrote:

“As I join the chorus of well-wishers celebrating your special day, I am filled with immense joy and gratitude. Today marks a significant milestone in the life of a remarkable individual, a visionary leader, and a champion of African unity and progress.

“Mr. President, your life has been a testament to dedication, perseverance, and selfless service to our beloved continent. Your unwavering commitment to the Pan-African ideals has inspired a generation of leaders, and your tireless efforts to promote peace, security, and sustainable development have left an indelible mark on the lives of millions.

“As your junior colleague and mentee, I have had the privilege of witnessing your exceptional leadership firsthand. Your ability to bring people together, to listen, and to find common ground has been a hallmark of your tenure as President of the Pan-African Parliament. Your wisdom, guidance, and unyielding optimism have been a beacon of hope in challenging times.
