A
former member of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) from Senegal, Hon. Djbril War has been appointed a
Minister in charge of Law, Institutions and Political Affairs by President Macky Sall.
Hon War was until the June
2022 parliamentary elections in Senegal, a member of the Pan-African Parliament
where he had served as Chairperson of the Committee on Rules, Privileges and
Discipline. He also served on the African Union (AU) Reforms Ad Committee.
He
attended the opening session of the Second Ordinary Session of the Sixth
Parliament on May 15 and was introduced as one of the Special Guests by the
President of the Parliament, H.E. Hon.
Chief Fortune Charumbira and was applauded by his former colleagues.
Hon. War had to vacate his seat at PAP when he was appointed a Minister because under Article 7 of the
PAP Protocol, Membership of the Pan-African Parliament shall not be compatible
with the exercise of executive or judicial functions in a Member State.
