Bukola Saraki |
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari over his anti-graft fight.
Saraki said the anti-corruption fight of the Buhari-led government was “more of propaganda than reality.”
Featuring on Channels Television, on Wednesday, the Director-General
of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential campaign
organisation, insisted that Nigeria had slided downwards on its indices
on corruption.
He said: “We go to the issue of corruption. I believe that is more of
propaganda than reality. Why do I say that? Even by most of the world
organisations, if you look at our indices in corruption, we have gone
back. And more importantly what examples are they showing in the
government and anybody in the government been prosecuted in the public.
None. Zero.
“If truly the president is fighting corruption, I am baffled how a
member of his government who they found wanting, up till today, no
charge, no prosecution.
“To me, once you can’t do that, you lose the moral high ground to say
that you are fighting corruption. You must show that nobody is above
the law. You must show that no matter how close anybody is to you, you
must take action and that’s not happening.”
Saraki had earlier alleged that there was massive fraud within the oil sector with the knowledge of President Buhari..
