Prince Uche Secondus |
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, @Prince Uche
Secondus has again advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to
subjugate his interest as a national interest and his personal political
security as national security.
He said this on Tuesday while restating his condemnation of President
Muhammadu Buhari’s statement at the opening ceremony of the Annual
General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on Monday.
The President, in his speech, urged lawyers to put national security over and above the rule of law.
But Secondus said that the center of every national interest was
contained in the constitution and that the rule of law of the nation and
democracy is anchored on them.
He said this at the national campaign office (Legacy House) in Maitama, Abuja.
Secondus warned that President Buhari’s interpretation of national
interest and national security should be disregarded because it’s all
aimed at enabling him create order 6 to appropriate legislative and
judicial functions and operative a full blown dictatorship.
Secondus challenged the President to append his signature on the Electoral Act as amended if he truly believes in conducting a free, fair
and credible election.
He wondered why the President is foot dragging in signing the new
electoral act when it’s obvious that it would deepen our electoral
system and ensure faster growth of our democracy.
